Google reviews for a repair shop: how to get them and how to reply
Updated 20 October 2026 · 2 min read
People searching «phone repair near me» often choose among the first three Google results and look at stars and reviews before calling. A shop with many recent reviews wins even against a cheaper one. Nothing complicated is needed: you just need to ask every time, at the right moment.
1. When to ask
The best moment is hand-back, when the customer holds a working device and is happy. An hour after pick-up, or the next day, is already less effective. Ask everyone, not only those who look satisfied: most customers are satisfied and do not think of it unless reminded.
2. How to ask without pushing
- One sentence in person: «If you are happy, would you help us with a Google review?»
- One message after pick-up with the direct link, only once.
- A sign or a QR code at the counter with the link to your profile.
- Never incentives in exchange for positive reviews: Google's rules forbid them and reviews can be removed.
3. The right link
In your Google Business Profile you find the link to ask for a review: copy it and use it in messages and in the QR code. The customer lands straight on the window to write, without searching for the shop.
4. Always reply
- To a positive review: thank them by name and mention the work done, in two lines.
- To a negative one: stay calm, thank them, apologise if there was a real problem and offer to fix it, inviting them to write or call.
- Never write device or repair details in the public reply.
- Do not argue: the reply is read by those choosing a shop, not only by whoever wrote.
5. Negative reviews are part of the game
A shop with only five stars looks less credible. A few negative reviews that you answer well do more good than none. Check now and then for fake reviews and report them to Google.
A reminder that goes out by itself
So you do not forget, the link should be ready at the moment of hand-back. Repair shop software such as Fixverso lets you enter the Google review link in the shop details and uses it in the thank-you email after pick-up.
